AI has genuinely changed how I run my business this past year and I’m curious where everyone else is getting real value vs hype. My actual daily/weekly uses:
- Drafting + tightening listing copy (titles, bullets, descriptions) - I edit heavily but it kills the blank page
- Summarizing competitor reviews to find product gaps
- Turning my messy task notes into clean SOPs for my VA
- Sanity-checking PPC search term reports - paste the data, ask what to cut/scale
- Drafting supplier emails and negotiation messages (especially with non-native-English suppliers)
- Brainstorming product variations and angles
Not magic, but it’s like having a tireless junior assistant. Where’s it actually helping you?
customer service templates and review/message responses for me. in tech accessories i get the same 10 questions a thousand times (‘is this compatible with X’). i had AI draft a library of clear answers and now my VA just picks the right one. also great for turning a 1-star rant into a calm professional reply i can actually send instead of what i WANT to type lol
omg the SOP thing kev mentioned is what sold me. i described how i do my weekly reporting out loud, pasted the ramble into the chat, and asked for a step by step SOP and it just… produced it. cleaned up my mess into something i could hand to a VA. as a part timer with no time this stuff is a cheat code honestly
ill be the skeptic so nobody gets burned: AI is great but it will confidently make stuff up. it does NOT know amazons current policies reliably, it’ll invent ‘facts’ and fake numbers, and AI-written listings that nobody edited all read like the same bland soup. use it as a FIRST DRAFT and a thinking partner, not an oracle. anything policy or money related, verify. anything customer-facing, edit so it sounds like a human. otherwise youre just adding fast garbage.
mike’s exactly right and thats the pro way to use it. my rule: AI for the FIRST 80% (structure, draft, options), me for the LAST 20% (judgment, voice, fact-checking, the stuff that actually matters). it 10x’s my speed on the grunt work and frees my brain for the decisions. the people getting hurt are the ones letting it do the last 20% too.
in supplements i have to be EXTRA careful - AI will happily write health claims that are not allowed and would get my listing pulled or worse. so for me its brainstorming and structure only, and a compliance-aware human (me) writes anything that touches claims. amazing tool, but know where your category’s landmines are before you paste its output anywhere.
